I get a Check Engine Light whenever I start up cold. The initial coolant temperature reading says 142 degrees when I start it up (it's obviously not at that temp). As soon as the coolant warms up and the temp gage moves off the 142 reading, the Check Engine Light goes off.
Anyone have a thought on how to correct this condition?

Did you retrieve the codes? If not, suggest doing and advising (paper clip is all that's needed, check sticky or do a search on how to read)..
btw, could be the ECT, or could be something else and the ECT, the code(s) will help determine.
Lastly, when engine is cold (overnight), digital dash's coolant temp and oil temp should be very close...
