Ok, since i hit 235*F in stop and go traffic today, and my analog was getting close to the "solid" area.. it was definitely time to clean the radiator.
BTW, i see why you guys complain about the 6 screws down at the bottom front of the radiator shrowd... what a pain in the ****! I'm also very surprised at the size of this radiator. I expected it to be MUCH larger :nonod:.
I haven't cleaned anything out yet. I'm going to pull the radiator tomorrow and it's gonna be air compressor time :D. Going to straighten as many fins as I can too. Also going to see about straightening fins on my A/C radiator to see if that will help make it blow cooler.
What gives!!! I removed my radiator last week, cleaned it, it was pretty dirty especially at the lower 8". However my coolant temp has not changed, at idle it goes up to 227 degrees, driving it hovers around 201-205 degrees, is this normal? I have the 195 degree thermostat. My fan is kicking on at 225 degrees.. I am concerned

You say it goes up to 227... any higher? If not, then it is probably fine. The fans start to pull the air through at 225. Before they kick on, there isn't much air flowing through so the ambient air around the rad just keeps getting warmer. If the temprature starts to drop as soon as the fans kick on, then you are getting good air flow through the radiator.

So, how come the Power Steering reservoir is clean? Did it come off mine while it's been in the shop? :jester
The power steering cooler has much larger fins. The transmission cooler that I added is what's sitting on the front of it. It is brand new, only 3k miles driving with it.
My car will stay around 177 to ~210 depending on traffic and outside temps. When i turn on the AC the temps climb to about 225 to 230 and stay there. I only use the AC when its over 90+ outside.
I was joking on the reservoir - the p/s fluid tank - black & shiny with no noticeable road grime. Hey, good luck. Cooling is a real pain here - temps run in the 105-115 range from June through September - except for the days when it really gets hot :D
Been trying to find out about a Tranny cooler for a while. Is that yours with the Mobil1 label on it? Would like to add one to my 91 if you could shoot me the mfg/model and where you got it. Neat install
Oh, by the way, the concrete part of the hiway is for driving, looks like you use the grassy part from those pics
