Default Need advice....

Guys,

I am currently going crazy without my vette. As some of you know I thrashed my transmission this weekend at the strip. Finally got her into the 12s, even without 3rd gear, and now I have to wait till I can get a new transmission put in her. I am going to go with a Pro-built 700r4 fully set up for racing. I was very impressed with the phone call I had with him and I can still keep my existing transmission, to have it rebuilt or just use as a door stop.

As stated I am going crazy waiting and need to do something to occupy my time. I have decided to change the Dana 36 lub. I see the tag says use limited slip lub only. The guys at the local NAPA sold me a tube of gunk I am suppose to squirt in after adding regular gear lub. Well I decided to get the OK from you guys before trashing yet another component of my drivetrain.

What would you guys recommend? I have some leaky seals in the rear as well, so perhaps a thicker lub might stop some of the leaks. Any ideas. I have a bad feeling that once the new transmission is installed I am going to blow the rear out. For that reason I do not want to put a whole lot of work into the Dana 36. I will go with a Dana 44 once the 36 goes. Hopefully it will hold out for a while.

Also do you just remove the lower bolt to drain the rear?

Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks guys!

Yes --you need the limited slip additive in it --use what the owners manual reccomends as far as the oil. The only way to stop the leaks is to replace the gaskets and or seals that are leaking. If your pinion seal is leaking then check for play in the yoke --if you have any then get it to a shop to do the pinion bearings --a new seal will not stop a loose pinion leak.
iF there is a drain plug use it --if not suck the old stuff out with a pump--also add the additive first to insure you get all of it in.
