Is this ok ?
I remember reading awhile ago that there is a spare tire removal kit from GM.I would like to remove mine ,has anyone done this with ill effects(extra flex)If I remember correctly the replace kit was a cross member of a sort,I just can't imangine that the spare could be tieing the frame together that much??

My understanding is that the brace is more of a safety issue.
I did the spare/jack, etc delete over a year ago with no ill effects and gained a little in the 1/4mi (delete about 40-50lbs). I left the carrier in place so that it still looks stock from the rear.
