Default Coolant on the Floor???

Guys I flushed and changed coolant last night adding in some Water Wetter too. After draining, filling(with Prestone Flush) up to temp, cool down, drain, fill, up to temp, cool down, drain, fill (Water Wetter and Distilled Water/ Coolant mix) up to temp, test drive about 5 miles it was 1am.

I got up this morning to top off the tank and it took about 30 min to drink a gallon of mix with engine running and filling through rad cap. Appeared to be sucking into top hose of Radiator tank opening.

????? Should I have topped it off like that??

Total intake was about 3 gallons not counting the reserve tank. (capacity is 17.8qts)

???Does that sound about right to allow for engine fluid that did not drian?

Put cap on, turned off car and heard a dripping noise, looked under the car and there's about 1/2 of the gallon I just poured in on the floor. Dressed for work so let it cool and come back home in a couple of hours, tighten the heck out of the drian plug and can't see where else this coolant may have come from.

Take car up to temp and no leaks I can find.

???? Is there any way for coolant escape if I over filled it? Could not see if reserve tank has an overflow like the old 67 that dumps to the ground?

Any comments or ideas appreciated.

It doesn't matter...if your radiator cap is good, it will just go into your overflow tank.If that over fills  I believe it will come out of the cap.

did you turn heater on to fill heater core, how about a split line from fill neck to overflow bottle, or cracked overflow bottle, good luck! :D

Sorry guys, used to including a sig with the '91 Auto L98. You confirmed what I thought. (it used to be so simple with the '67!) Probably just me being a dummy and not tightening the drain plug tight enough last night

I'll check the lines and the bottom of the tank if it continues.

It may have just relieved pressure and came out through the overflow bottles cap. It's vented just for that reason.
