If you're running Windows 95 or 98 you can add a couple of lines to your MSDOS.SYS file which will bring up a screen allowing you to boot directly to DOS when the computer is booted.
If you're running ME or XP you need to download a free file from a site, like TechTV, that will allow you to do the same thing.
