I've searched the archives and found some good info, but I'm still confused. I bought the small cap pigtail from Napa, it has the same number of wires,and the same colors. Can I cut the large cap connector off my harness and splice in the new one color to color?
I also have the 2 wire (pink and white) connector that goes from the small cap dist to the remote coil. It would seem all I need to do is connect a +12v to the + on the other side of the coil.( I don't need the tach connection) Am I on the right track, or am I going to let the smoke out?

The stock GM small cap coil has 2 sets of connectors , 2 x Pos and 2 x Neg
if using a reg coil double the wires up on each terminal ie, Ign to coil Pos terminal , pink / wht to coil Pos terminal
and in your case , the white from dist to coil Neg
(The tacho signal is from the coil, not the dist; wire # 121 in diagram )
I just did this swap and I got a kit off ebay from seller tpiparts. It uses the Camaro/Firebird coil and is almost a complete plug & play with the exeption of a red wire that goes to the original power wire, and a white wire that goes to the tach wire. The kit isn't cheap but it sure made things a lot simpler.
