Default 1990 Chip, new info.

Hi again,

Thanks to everyone who offered advice or help in my previous post. Thanks to someone on this forum I found someone to burn a chip for me. Now I have some new problems.

I was looking for an ANHW eprom for a 90 convertible. I found someone to burn an AXCS which is a 91 version of the ANHW. After install here's the new problems.

Fans start immediately when key is turned.
Hard to start(3-5 tries) then starts and runs pretty well.
Electronic A/C display is blank and blower starts at full when key is turned.
Check Engine Light is on.
Will not enter diagnostics mode.

We replaced the ecm with a junkyard unit when we first started working on it.

Is this the chip or something I couldn't see until a "working" chip was installed?

Thanks,

David

This is indicatave of the chip being installed backward & the car running in the limp home mode because it's bypassing the bin. You must be using a G1 adapter becaused you can't mount the memcal itself in the ECM wrong.

If you used a G1 adapter, simply flip the memcal end for end. If you installed a new chip on the memcal itself, flip that end for end.

Hmm, I don't know what a G1 adapter is so I don't think I used one. I ordered a complete memcal with the prom installed on a GM Memcal. How is the prom supposed to go into the Memcal? Everyone makes mistakes so maybe the person I ordered it from put the prom on backwards

It sounds like the chip was programmed incorrectly or installed incorrectly. Have the guy who burned the chip check his work.

Replacing the entire memcal narrows it down to these possibilities if the ECM itself is good.

I have no idea what that means.

I have been in contact with the person who did the programming and he is sending a replacement.

It should be here in a few days
