I've been running a Hurst in my 94 for nearly 10 years and haven't came close to an accidental reverse shift.
I've been running it for well over 10 years...closer to >15 since I installed it in 1997-98, and I've never even come close to putting it in reverse a single time.
But then again, I pay attention to where the shifter is and what gear I'm grabbing. It is certainly FAR from an automatic...but I ORDERED it that way.
Way back when I did mine, I chose the Hurst. I'm old school and always loved the big Hurst ball. The shifter when put next to the B&M was better. I never had a reverse problem. The throw is just right for me.
Another vote for hurst..they can be found on Ebay. I've had mine for about 2 years and never accidentally thrown it in reverse. However, when I let people drive my car I always get nervous about the missing 6th and putting it in reverse. Great shifter tho!
Put a B&M in my 95 several years ago. Wouldn't trade it for two Hursts. I can lay my arm on the console and make the 1 2 shift. It shifts easily, and has much shorter throws than the Hurst. It is notchy, but you can tell its in gear instantly.
