Default Questionable Prom on 86

Hey scan and tune guys, My BCC on my Prom is BUC9555

Everything I can find says I should be running with a BUC1724, can't find out anything on BUC9555.

86, iron heads, 2.59 axle

Is the 9555 correct for my ride? Getting false code 33 for years along with all the issues that Chevy put out in TSB 86-162. Previous owner had removed the SES light bulb and I've been struggling for years with this.

Thanks

Anyone have a source for the correct newest one?

To buy one?
Rocking horse sh*t

Only way to get a different or later tune is a custom tune on a eprom
Popular mod is to run the '89 ARAP tune ( last of the MAF TPI tunes ) that does away with the cold start injectors

Any source for the 89 ARAP and a tuner?

Any of the many online tuners like Pcmforless
http://www.pcmforless.com/index.php?...d=91&Itemid=29

would be able to do one for you, would just select '89 ARAP on the order sheet instead of 86.
However when getting a custom tune most get other tune mods done at the same time ( no extra cost )
Change fan operating temps , delete EGR , delete VATS , etc

Note;
if you get the later tune you will have to unplug the cold start switch at front of intake ( the brass hex head unit on left ) so the original CSI system doesn't operate
Can just leave everything in place to fill the holes or there are TPI CSI "delete" kits with plugs if you want to remove the system completely

One of these may work. Do your homework before you buy.

The later PROMs were made for aluminum heads. Probably won't make a lot of difference, but I've heard that the more aggressive spark curve works because the aluminum heads dissipate the heat faster than the cast iron heads.

I'm not sure how much this matters. GM was VERY conservative with their tunes to make sure you don't get into trouble.
