Yesterday, took my grandson (11 years old) for a ride. When I left my road and turned onto the main road, I accelerated pretty hard to give him a thrill.
After doing so I noticed that when I let off the gas the car kept going pretty much the same speed. I had to step on the brake or put my toe under the accelerator in order to get it to idle down. Checked all the cables, nothing sticking. What else might it be, what should I check next?
On something like this you will just have to trial & error fix it.
I suggest leaving it off & flooring the throttle, trying to make it stick then look close at the moving parts look for something rubbing or binding.Move parts & see what makes it reset.
I bet ya both got a little thrill out of that ride. :chevy
I had something like this happen on my car a few years back. Turned out the bushings were worn on the throttle-body shaft, and it would stick in a high idle at times. A blip of the throttle sometimes would cure it.
Took a little time to find it, but we ended up replacing it with a 52mm one from TPIS anyway.
