Ok guys and gals. I want to install my Harlan shift light before this Friday's track rental. What wire do I need to tap into for a tach signal under the dash, or do I have to tap into it right off of the tach filter?
Still undecided as to where to put it, I need to be able to change the programming on it quickly as I'm still dialing in and will begin tuning the new package soon.
Since our Dashes are completely flat, I'd mount it there with double sided adhesive tape...(just for now) then put it in your dual gauge pod when you get it dialed in.
I am most likely going to do what Hutch did and mount it behind an AC vent. One difference is that I will remotely mount the circuit board probably under the hush panel. I dunno yet...
Take the signal right from the tach signal wire for the ECM...You can get it right before it goes into the ECM or you can just take it off the brown wire that plugs into the distributor.
I went straight to the distributor for the tap. I also custom fabricated a temporary mount out of sheet metal that goes to one of the dash screws. I eventually will mount it in the custom dash setup that I am now building.
