Default c5 wheels

so i just bought tires for my c5 and realized i got the wrong rear tire size. i bought 245 40 18 instead of 275 40 18 will this be a huge diff. i know it comes down to an inch more narrow in tire width. but as performance wise will it hurt me in corners and traction... thanks

Your traction in the rear will be a little less. You will not notice the difference unless you are pushing the car to its limits. As long as the tire diameter is larger than the front tire diameter you should be OK. But it would be better to ask questions like this in the C5 section.

These are mounted? Yes/no? If they're not mounted do what you need to do to get them exchanged. An Internet buy? Another example of a good reason to "buy local"!

i posted it in this one on accident then posted on the c5. i purchased them through tire rack they have not been mounted yet im trying to get them to correct the order before it ships. i just was looking at worst case. i just didnt want the tires to look all stretched and funny looking with a smaller tire on a wider rim

I would send them back.

Those 245/40-18 tires are approx. an inch less in overall diameter than the 275/40-18.

That will affect your handling and your speedometer will be reading 3.5% faster than your actually moving.

thats what i figured. i got in a hurrty when i ordered them with kids running around that i didnt pay attention that i never changed it from 245 in the front to 275 in the rear until i got the email confirming my order. i sent them an email stating that i placed the order in error and i live in sc and they are coming from cali so i figured i could catch it in time. being that i already paid for them. i was just checking incase it was too late. but i fully intend on trying to exchange them for the oem tire size. they should catch it anyway since i put in the information for the corvette maybe it will throw up a red flag anyway. just want to cover it from every angle. thanks for the replies guys

Don't wait for an email, call Tire Rack. Those tires won't work on the rear of a C5.
