So I ordered a datalogging device and this is a whole new realm for me.
This is what I ordered after asking PCMforless:

Honestly I am not sure where to start do I plug it in to the car and computer and just go driving around?
Any help or guidance will be appreciated!
Thanks

You will need some software first. I use "tunerpro rt" from Mark Mansur.
I was looking into ttsdatamaster because that's what PCMforless is telling me to use if I want them to burn chips for me.
How well does datamaster work?
It is a 1990 corvette
Only reason it needs a tune is because it's a 383 with a cam

Datamaster is an excellent program as is TunerPro.
I use datamaster to do my datalogs...excellent realtime graphics
I use Tunerpro to view and make changes to my bin file for the chip...you can also burn your new chip from within Tunerpro.
Lots of great reading here on chip burning...datalogging...etc..

For datalogging you will need to plug the aldl cable into the socket under the steering wheel (to the right) and the usb cable into a laptop. You will then need to run the datalogging software from the laptop and estalish comms (connect) with the ecm.
When you come to swapping chips you will have to retrieve the ecm from under the passenger side dash.

Plugging your car into your laptop is just a link that sends info to the pc. You need a program so you as a human can understand whats being sent.
Do a bit of forum reading on the tunerpro, gearheadefi, thirdgen, and delcohacking sites for some good info. I believe its the Tunerpro site that has a step by step getting started guide as a sticky. (I could be wrong...might be gearheadefi.
