1985 AC Condenser
Are the new Condenser's think like the picture? I want to reaplace the stock unit but I wonder if the R134a is more efficient or what? The return tubes are much smaller than the stock unit

The new condensers are thinner than the stock early 85. That's a good thing if you ever plan on installing a Dewitts radiator. It won't fit with the thicker condenser. Mine was converted to R134a. I don't know about efficiency but it's easier to find R134a freon. Don't worry, it will work just fine.

Replacing the whole system is the way to go. I had 2 compressors fail before I did. Once you get debris in the system there's no way to flush it out. Have fun with the evaporator. I did mine with the engine out. The first evaporator I bought did not fit. Made in China. I got the second one on flea bay for 1/4 the cost. It turned out to be the exact same manufacturer and part number but it was correct. Go figure.
