A "while you wait" - "get it n'go"! That's great. Was it reasonable?

So they replaced what all?

$65 and I waited.

Apparently they did the brushes and the brush holder and also the drive gear with spring

There's a big plus dealing local, they'll remember you! The alternator could be next on who knows whatever or the other starter and if the starter actually gave you similar aggravation you've got someone to talk to. Did they check the armature and fields while you watched or just the spin it and mention what they did and didn't like? Overall a good experience?

When they spun it, it was slower than they liked. Took it apart and I saw that the brushes the replaced were half as thick and it passed the test they put it on after reassembly. Some sort of bench with a load that they could put on it. Overall it was good.

Thanks but no thanks. Don't jinx my alternator, thank you very much. LOL

This starter install is really kicking my *** royal. There isn't much clearance with the car so low and I can't get the outer bolt started because I can't get the angle on it to hold it up there and the headers are getting in the way. If the car were on a lift, it'd be a snap.

Years of oil saturation have dramatic effects on starters.
As does years of service......
