Hello everyone! Does anyone know the correct running temp for a 1996 LT4? Mine seems to run around 185 - 210 range. This seems fairly high to me. I have checked the coolant and hoses, and everthing appears good. The thermostat should still be stock, and the engine has 28,000 miles on it. :nonod:
With a stock thermostat, 185 is actually a little cool compared to most. Mine has always been ~195-210 in stop & go traffic. Higher on days when the temps are in the '90s. Unless you have the a/c on, the fans don't turn on until ~227.
I've had my '96 LT4 for 2.5 years; it has 125,000 miles and I live in Houston, TX...HOT, HOT, HOT! It has always run hot...210 to 225 is not uncommon. BUT, it has never overheated and it still runs great.

Ditto. MY 96CE lt4 runs at 180-225. The fans are programmed to kick on at 227 degrees. If you're in traffic and get nervous, turn on the AC...that forces the fans to run and it'll cool down to 180 pretty quick. Cire96
