Thanks, I thought so,but the numbers on the chip did niot specify it.
I had a hypertech chip in the car and read the bin file and tried to program it back into the chip but keep getting an error saying the device did not program. The eprom that was in it was a 27c256 and the file is 32k. Is there something obvious that I am doing wrong??
You need to change the start of device to 04000 when using a 256 prom in a 128 app.
Hmmm, further thought here-if the bin shows 32k instead of 16k then it looks like they doubled the bin, but.... I've never heard of hypertech using a 256 in a 128 app??? Let's start over! What year is your car?
The car is an 86. I bought it with the hypertech chip and have since changed cam injectors and other things, so I wanted to update the chip.
I figured if I messed up I could always put the original (hypertech) bin file back into to it.
I just tried programing the 256 chip with a 16k file, 86tpi.bin I got off the net. I set start of buffer 00000,start of device 04000, end of device to 07fff.
It programed fine, I then moved the device ( I am using pocket programer 2) and read the buffer. At 04000 and beyond it was filed with FF. That is telling me it is blank in that area, correct? If so any ideas?
