Most new 4 cyl have as much hp as the 85s. Better fuel injection setups, less issues.
Also noone really goes out of their way for the tpi set up. Especially when they can pick up ls motor for an affordable price.

Default i dont buy that

most 4cyl. engines dont put out 230 hp, and from what i understand the 85 was a one year set up so there must be a need for them.

Do you still have the carb set up that was on it before your FIL gave you the project?? May want to do like suggested above , reinstall the carb system unitil you can afford a Fast or other stand alone EFI system. Since it sounds like a lot of the xfire stuff is gone, you do not need much to get the carb system going again assuming the carb, intake, dist., FPR are still lying around someplace.

I would think you can get $600, maybe. But Phil, just to be straight with you. If you do not have $500 to spend getting this TPI in the '84, you had better sell the car. Something along the way is sure to cost you $500, I don't care if Einstein is doing your thinking for you.

Default i just am careful

i dont have money to waste so that is why i am trying to gather information. I would love to just buy a crossfire engine to put in the car and then go from there i just dont want to be sitting on this tpi engine, i would rather sell it first then buy a crossfire, but finding one for under 1500 has been a huge problem. I also have yet to make it to my father in laws to see exactly what he has left, for all i know he may have a nice lo rise intake and carb sitting there.
I would actually love to sell the whole car along with the tpi but my wife would rather have me spend more than the car is worth to get it fixed up than offend her father

Default tpi and crossfire engines are

going for 750 minimum in this forums classifieds so why do you guys seem to think a engine trans and ecm toghether is worth only 5-600?
Also just so you guys know the headache i inherited this car has no interior either so i'm looking at putting 3 k into the interior which my wife thinks is fine also so when im done i'lll have over 4 grand in a car that was purchased for 1500 with a bad engine and then the wrong motor was purchased by my father in law for over a grand, so i would love to sell it without wsting a dime in it.

was just wondering what your plan was for getting the tpi to work in the 84 for only 500 was? I keep going over my options and none of them are that cheap, just wondering what your ideas was.
Thanks, Phil
