It's noticeable when it has been running for a while didn't,t know to be concerned or not new car to me getting acquainted with it. Its my only concern at this time
No not running when it's off.
After the car has been driven and at operating temp. At idle (I notice) the pump humming you could even feel the pump running through the fuel cap. No running problems just an elevated pump hum at idle. Thanks
More likely to be a faulty oil pressure switch that supplies power direct from the battery to the pump
( even when key is off )
Great Point !
Yep. Thats a "hot always" circuit....and a direct path for power to the pump... I would not have ever thought of that.
Those OP switches get forgotten about as soon as everybody knows what they are and what they do. I did.
The fuel pump has a vibration dampener on it. They reduce vibration, which in turn makes the humming noise you hear. I replaced my fuel pump a couple years ago and have to really listen to hear it come on when turn the ignition switch to on. Your dampener is probably missing. It is not necessary, but will help prolong the life of the fuel pump. And if you need to replace your fuel pump it's not a hard task.
