Hello I am a new owner of an old c4. 1985 . The guy before me had some 1992 tail lights on each end with some kind of rubber stopper around them. Well I took them out and disconnected them to find on the right 1-dark green 1-brown 1- black wires. I have the originals he took off but they have 2 dark grn 1 brown and 1 black. 4 vs 3.
On the left same but replace yellow with dark green. I have all of the rest of the lighting working. I don't want to short anything.
Thx a lot!

The yellow on the left is turn/stop and the green on the right is turn/stop, the brown on all of the lamps is tail and of course the black is ground. I believe that likely the one socket on each side of the rear might have had the splice to the other contained in the socket and that is the reason you see four wires. YELLOW - left stop/turn, GREEN - right stop/turn, BROWN - tail in all, BLACK -ground
So you think it f I just skip one of the green on the right and yellow on the left and use the three I will be good to go. I guess you are saying that if they used them in the middle they would have needed the extra wire.
Ok thx for that.

Each lamp you want to perform a stop/turn on the left needs a yellow to it and each on the right needs a green to it. Each that you want to perform the tail function needs a brown to it.
