Default cat removal

i am having problems with my catalytic converters they rattle all the time...if i have them removed and straight pipe welded in its place will that cause any codes to pop up. i understand the o2 sensers are near the exhaust and i should be fine....also heard it would improve performance is that true ??dont want to screw something up. any help will be appreaciated...jerry tnx and god bless.

Just hollow them out then no need to weld anything.

Just hollowed my precats out when they broke apart, it won't throw a code. I did eventually replace them to pass smog, didn't notice a difference.

Take your mufflers off while you are under there. It will put a smile on your face quickly. Then after a week you will want them back on...

Mine fell apart years ago. I would not have gutted them if they had not but, they did fall apart. Now I have long tubes and an empty main cat. Not smog testing here.

Had the same problem with my cats and decided too remove them. Replacing them with straight pipes will increase exhaust sound but does little for adding power.
