Default Locking Gas Door !!!

Has anyone ever seen, or made, a locking/remote release for the gas filler door. I have a locking cap but it might be an interesting project and it would add another level of security too.

I don't think I see the point. A screwdriver on the back edge of the door would rip it right open.

True, but that goes for any vehical. It would keep at least some of the troublemakers away.

This is something I've thought about doing. My previous car was a Dodge Daytona Turbo, and it had exactly what you're talking about--one of the few things I actually miss about that car.

I am getting ready to look into doing this. I already have the switch and the locking mechanism, and solinoid.....Ill post if I can actually get it to work. Oh, and if someone ripped it open, I would know not to start the car.....

Just had an idea. You could hook up a "hood pin" type switch and if someone did open the gas door, latched or not, I would set off the alarm. I just installed a complete alarm system an it would not be hard to do. You could even do this with just the factory system. I would think that because the circuit is a grounding type input there wouldn't be any chance of it sparking & going "BOOM".
