SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG. The hose gong to the thermostat should be filled with coolant and HOT. You indicated in a earlier post that there was a cap on the radiator? IF so remove it....remember things are still hot so let it cool down. Is there coolant in the radiator?

Hi guys ..hate dredging up old news..looking to flush my 94 also...will be replacing all the hoses...where exactly is that restriction where it narrows and how again do you reach in and unplug it?? do you all run any kind of commercial flush chemical to dissolve crusty sediment..I was told not to use it as it will break stuff off that will circulate and plug radiator and heater core passages

Your cooling system operates at about 12 psi.
Your combustion chambers operate at ten times that.
If your head gaskets resist combustion chamber pressures, they won't have any problem resisting cooling system pressures.

The tiny hole does help with bleeding, though.
More like a couple hundred times. THe cylinder pressure is 10x just under compression...before ignition occurs. During ignition, I believe peak cylinder pressure reach a couple thousand PSI.
I think he was concerned with the engine overheating and "popping a head gasket" w/o the hole. Hole isn't going to help or stop that, however.
