Default Electric Water Pump Wiring

Hey guys I have a 93 LT1 with a Meziere HD water pump installed by a PO. the wiring job is sub par to say the least and I want to rewire it. I ordered the relay kit from Meziere and I am looking for suggestions for the best circuits to tap into for both batt power and the ignition power for the relay. I have already found a good write up on how to install an alarm, which I definately want. The wiring has already got me into trouble as I have noticed that when I am working in that area, I can bump the wires such that the pump doesnt come on! Fortunately I think I caught it and shut the car off before any serious damage was done. If I got back under the hood and jiggle the wires around, it will come on. I have to fix this, so any suggestions for the best/cleanest way to wire it would be appreciated. thanks!

Diagnosing with power is necessary but never do any repairs with power on. Disconnect the neg cable to your battery during repairs. As for wiring it has to be pretty straight forward. I would imagine a wire to a 12V power source, a sensor, and a relay. Since you ordered a new wiring kit i bet it comes with everything you need. Did you check the company website for installation instructions or if they come with the kit you ordered?

They have a diagram with the relay kit and specification for voltage requirements and I called for advice, but no specific instructions or recommendations as to what circuits to tap into. I was just curious if anyone on here has done this already just to save me the time of going through and reinventing the wheel.

I've seen several posts by owners that have one and like it. Maybe one of them will chime in. I'm thinking tap your power source at the alternator. I can't believe they don't have better installation instructions. That's **** poor.

I tapped power for my Elect WP relay at the PINK "switch on" power wire for the fan relays.

The PINK wire you want is in the harness that runs along the drivers side fender well. It's been like 6 or 7 yrs since I wired mine but I'm pretty sure it's a PINK wire with a BLACK stripe...

Just go out to the fan relays on the side of the radiator shroud and trace the wire back in the harness to where it runs under the ECM mounting bracket.... I tapped mine there so I could mount the relay on the ECM mount bracket... I have seen people put it up on the fan shroud next to the fan relays but I wanted mine where it could be easily reconized and accessible.

There was a very good write up on C4 Tech Tips with pics, diagrams and everything but that page is no longer active here.

Here is a good write up.

Here is a good thread that explains it.

Rkless is correct i just wired mine in last week and I used the PINK wire on the fan relay as my ignition wire source. I tapped into it at the source of the fan relay though and mounted my new relay on top of one of the fan relays.

Hey, thanks for the explanation. At first I was thinking that the ECM controls the signal to the fan relays, but that thread reminded me it controls the ground. Been a while since I looked at the service manual. Thanks for the help guys. I can't wait to clean up this birds nest!
