Hi all I have a 1989 corvette I have been chasing a battery drain for about a week now. the one thing I have found so far is that if I keep out the fuse for the L.C.D it dose not drain. when I put that fuse back in I can see it spark should there be power to that fuse with the car off ? any help would be great thanks
The LCD is powered all the time because it remembers your MPG so it can display average MPG.
Other things powered all the time are the C68 HVAC system (it remembers your temperature and function settings), the ECM (it remembers error codes and BLMs) and the radio (it remembers your station settings and the time).
Keyless entry systems are also powered all the time so they can receive the signal from the fob.
I have heard of batteries being drained by the power antenna (it gets into a mode where it never shuts off) and power seats (same scenario).

FYI my 89 had battery drain, I removed the power seat fuse and the issue went away! I will get around to fixing it properly but since I'm the only driver i can live w/o the power seats and locks for now.
My 89 has a power drain also, it's only about (85-90 MA) so it's not draining the battery very fast.. I will have to start pulling fuses to track it down soon...You do know that anything up to (50 ma) drain is normal for our cars, .......WW
With the LCD fuse out connect an ammeter to the sockets for the fuse, as WW7 stated max total drain s/b no more than 50 ma (.05 amps). If more than 1 ma could be a power supply for the unit problem. http://www.batee.com/corvette/dcrg/advancedproblems.htm
ok I will have to get a new meter to check draw all I know at this point is with the lcd fuse in my car will be dead in 3 days with it uot its good I want this car to be my D,D but it has to start when needed thanks
