Default Tire size

I am about to buy some tires for my 96CE LT4. I have been thinking about getting 315 35 17 for the back and then 285 40 17 for the frount. Do any of you have any experiance with lager tires?

You realy need 11" rims to go up to that size. Otherwise they won't lay properly nor handle as well as stock size.

The rule of thumb is to keep the tire size to +/- 1" or rim size (width).

If you have 8.5s in the front, put 255/45s on there. If you have 9.5s in the front, go 275/40s

Go with 285/40s on the rear.

A high quality tire, such as Michelin Pilot Sports or BFG G-Force TAs will give you better results than a wider cheaper tire.

I have 275s on 9.5" in front and 315s on 11" in the back. This is what you need with those size tires. I love mine, looks so :reddevil

Make sure you have 9.5 front rims and 11 rear rims and you get 275-315. 285 is a different diameter, doesn't fit the rim as well, won't handle as well, and will change the rake compared to a 275. The 275-315 is a killer combo and was stock for ZR-1 and GS for good reason.

I'm running Dunlop SP Sport 8000's. 285/40ZR17 front and 335/35ZR17 on the rear. These are mounted on A-Mold GS 9.5 and 11 inch wheels. These sizes are well within the specs recommended by Dunlop. I had a 4 wheel alignment using VBP "advanced street" specs and it handles like it was on rails.

Can I get those rim sizes in the CE style or will I need an after market rim?

They are the GS rims. They are identical to the CE except for coloration. You can have a set of GS coupe rears refinished to match or get a set of aftermarket in the silver paint finish and they should match. Move your rear rims to the front if the front are 8.5 and you're set.

I have a question? Does the CE have the 11" rims on the rear? What size do you have on the rear now? If you have the 285's now then you probably don't have the 11" rears and have the 9.5". If you are going to get the 315's on the rear then I would go with wheels from AFS or some other aftermarket wheel with at least an 11" rim. Just my humble opinion.
