Default 1986 blown control module ?

I have a 1986 vette, I tore it down 2 years ago to get a paint job. I finally found some time to work on it. It started right up, after sitting for over a year. However tried to start it again next day, and it would not turn over. I found the problem to be an intermittent ground cable at the battery. It now turns over, but wont start. My question is could I have blown anything while trying to charge it with a charger. The charger was putting out 14.5 volts.

Not likely that the charging caused any problems.
You need to start with the basics, spark, fuel pressure and injector pulse.

I have spark, fuel pressure, and I read on another post that you can tell that the injectors are working by watching the fuel pressure gauge pulse, and it is pulsing. What else is there, maybe timing?

What is your fuel pressure ?

You may want to consider removing all the old fuel. If there was any chance for condensation to form in tank or water get in tank, you will eventually burn up the pure fuel in lines and pick up some water from tank.

the pressure is 44psi, Maybe the problem could be water in the fuel. As the engine is turning over, it seems to try to fire. But it also won't fire with starting fluid.

Take the dist apart and clean, rebuilt it.

There are only 2 things necessary...fuel @ 40psi key ON, and a spark thats hot-blue when its got a good ground.

Yes, you CAN see the inj pulse as the engine cranks...watch the fuel pressure gauge needle..it will drop a cpl lbs with each pulse/cycle of the fuel injectors and keep dropping ..

Fuel gets stale. Water gets in the fuel. Start there and take the dist apart and clean then reassemble it. Corrosion only needs TIME to become a huge problem in the whole electrical system.

Clean EVERY harness plug and ground contact that you can find.

I got it running today. It ran bad for about 5 minutes, then straightened out. Must have been flooded or something in the fuel. Thanks for your help.
