Default Bad HVAC Computer?

I'm only getting air from the defrost and floor vents when I put the system in automatic... I read somewhere that this is a symptom of a bad computer and that 96's had alot of these problems. Anyone have any information on this? Thanks in advance.

You need an A/C programmer. Got mine from the Last Detail in Atlanta for $182. Check out my thread here and if you need any more help, ping me. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=317135

Southern Son..Youdaman...It sounds like I need a HVAC computer too. My problem is that on AC mode, I get air at the floor and defrost vents with very little drom the dash vents. Also, my fan speed control won't function on manual setting in most instances. What do you think? Cire96

Thanks, man. Sounds like that is what I need.
Did yours ever work intermittently? Mine was OK about half the time today...

Was mine intermittent? Yes. Sometimes it would seem to work. Other times I felt I was tricking it into working by first selecting fan only until panel vents worked and then switching quickly to A/C. Other times I got nothing but floor and defrost. Every so often I would get a loud duct door slam somewhere under the dash while out on the road doing nothing at all to the controller.

After replacing the programmer my problems have been completely resolved and it is surprising how much stronger the panel air is now that the doors are all fully actuated as they should be. Now my air is where it should be and  .
