NEW problem: Better than old problem though... Help please.
So I changed out the MAF, and now the car is not backfiring into the manifold anymore. However, at low rpms and/or less than a quarter trottle the car is bogging (it's hard to say if this occurs because of the position of the throttle or just beacause of low rps). I can hear some afterfiring occurring in the exhaust at low rpms.
Anyway, when I get to about 2800 rpms the car shoots off so fast I almost @#$% my pants. It runs fine, actually great, from there on up.
What could cause this. TPS problems, ignition timing, idle air set? Anything like this?
Thanks,
JEff

I had a problem with some bogging at low rpms.. My car wasnt getting fuel quick enough.. I changed out the fuel filter, and everything was fine.. When was the last time your fuel filter was changed???

OK. I took out some base timing so now it is running at about 7 degrees adv. and that has helped quite a bit. I have also figured out that I am having problems when the throttle is at a specific position (less than 1/4 or so) so it is not related to engine rpm. It only backfires if I am not giving more than 1/4 pedal, if I stomp on it, it takes off.
Does this sound like a tps or computer issue to anyone. Could I have the wrong fuel spark curves at less than 1/4 throttle?

could be the TPS.
I once made the mistake of using ohms  instead of volts to set the TPS. this made one weird running vette!
also, my multimeter showed a slightly different voltage than what diacom showed (was off by .03volts) so you might try going alittle above and below the stock setting, then see if it helps.
if you have a aftermarket throttle body, check to see if the TPS lever is rubbing or hanging up anywhere (my BBK 58mm hit big time).
