I tried spraying everything down with Lithium Grease....no help...
I can see that it is the throttle not full going back down to the all the way closed position on the throttle body. Does anybody know if that spring that circles around gets worn out over time?
Also I have tried adjusting the idle screw and that seems to help....but I know that you are suppose to ground out some pins on the ALDL connector to open the IAC or something....anybody got that procedure.....? (which pins do I paper clip (front, back, left, or right) and did I cause any harm by adjusting that screw without doing that procedure?
Anything can wear out, but check to make sure that the cruise control (and if an auto) T.V cable aren't holding the throttle open by disconnecting them. If the throttle closes, it may simply be a matter of adjusting one or the other or either could be binding in their protective sleeve. To adjust minimum idle, the procedure is outlined in tech tips. Just be sure to disconnect the distributor lead (tan wire near battery) so that it doesn't advance the ignition and increase idle during adjustment.
