OK, my accelerator pedal mount broke on our '84. We found a replacement metal mount to replace the 28 yr old plastic mount. (Pics are just thumbnails. Click on them for full pic.)
BUT to replace the mount you have to remove the cable. And that 28 yr old plastic keeper didn't play well. It broke. Now I have bought two new cables, one E-bay, one from Corvette Central, and BOTH are too short where the cable fastens to the throttle body linkage. (Remember, I have two TBs.) This causes a LITTLE problem:
Here are two pics of the ends of one of the new cables and the old cable. The old cable is on the bottom of each pic.
It looks like, IF I could get that inner cable stop on the new cable to move out by about 3/4", that everything would work fine. But that thing is swedged on there. Does anyone make custom cable inserts?

Reason: Added phot info.
Yes as long as you have good housings and accurate placements for the "crimped" stops I believe you can be helped. Now can I remember? You're going to work me hard. Many, many years ago accomplished the same type fix for a TV cable and a friend did for I think a parking brake release cable.

I've been hoping someone would know how to do this!
I believe for your solution I'd go to a "quality" bicycle shop that does some custom work. Your housings are good and you only need the "swage" relocated or just a new insert and some custom ends. The nylon aspect that is inside the car on most accelerator cables is done by many restoration shops. I believe a bicycle shop can fix you up.
