Default Quick Service Engine Soon Question

I have been having the SES light stay on for about 1/2 mile to a mile after the car starts. It then goes out and doesn't come on again. It only happens from time to time. It is a 93 - is it time to get out the paper clip and pull codes or is this normal?

Thanks!

The SES light comes on in my '87 sometimes too. Then if you turn off the engine and restart it's off again. Sometimes it doesn' t come on for days, then all of a sudden it's on again. Pull in to a station for gas it's on, then off again when go you leave. As soon as I get it out of the body shop, I've got to fix that quick.

It sounds like the ECM is setting a intermittent (soft code). That's why it goes out as the sensor comes back into range within 10sec. Sometimes those can be a little harder in diagnosing.

Sounds like a 32 to me as well. Which is EGR solenoid or related.
If thats what it is, its not alot to worry about, just might not pass a smog test.
