last week i purchased a 1992 coupe. today it was running a little hotter than it normally does. is there a chip or program (?) for the c4's to regulate the temperature? i hope i'm asking this question correctly...new to the tech area. any help is appreciated.....thanks guys! :)
A lower thermostat, reprogramming the fans or a manual fan switch are all options. I would start with the thermostat. Also clean out the top of the radiator, road garbage likes to collect there.
Theres alot you can do to get your temps down if you feel uncomfortable with them. But temps as high as 230 are normal.
1. Clean the front of your radiator (helps as much as 10-15 degrees if dirty)
2. Flush and refill with new coolant
3. Change your thermostat to a 160, especially in AZ.
4. You can have a chip burned for you to make your fans come on earlier, say on at 195-200 and off at 175-180. This can be done by someone on the forum. I think Craig Marcho may do it for you, if he has the time. (Marcho Polo on the forum). This is the only permanent fix really.
5. a bottle of water wetter, also could drop them 10 degrees.
I have a Marcho chip in mine, coolant never goes over 200F anymore.
