Default Fuel Pressure Issue

i had a post before about the car stumbling under acceleration, the regulator was changed, then the pressure still dropped so i did the pulsator bypass and the rapid leaking has slowed to where it should, so i took it for a spin and when i floored it again the pressure dropped to 0 and then to 40 and fluctuated between there while trying to floor it but, if i eased into the pedal it would go for awhile but then drop back off, my next change will be the filter then the pump anyone have any thoughts

why did you change the pulsator and NOT change the sock & pump?

Fuel pressure test gauge tells you what part to throw away...instead of cash.

The regulator is NOT going to regulate anything if the pump is unable to provide more flow/pressure than the reg requires. A plugged inline filter will cause everything you describe...so after the test gauge the filter is the 1st place to go..
You test a regulator by simply unplugging the vac...if it goes UP a few psi...its ok. if it does nothing, (non adjustable) it make be stuck.
if the vac line is wet, reg is definately bad.

With test gauge in place revving the engine tells if the pump can keep up or not.

healthy system will get 40 psi key ON no start.

IIWM, I'd go buy a pump & sock with a new filter and be done with it. Pumps wear out wayyyyyyyy faster than regulators and only a little less than filters. Remember, if the filter is clogged then the trash thats clogging the filter went thru the pump...so its damaged at minimum.

sorry left that out i had a another post but no one was responding, the pressure was bouncing and it didn't hold pressure after shut down pinched the return and it stopped replaced regulator bouncing stopped pressure still leaked pinched return line still leaked so i pinched the feed line and it stopped so i then i thought maybe it was the diaphragm in the pulsator leaking in the tank so i replaced it with fuel hose 300psi rated and the leaked slow like the it should, sorry for the misinformation but i was seeing if i could stop the leak before replacing fuel pump, but when i rev the car it doesn't miss at all and the pressure goes up a little then goes back as the idle drops
