I own a 1984 Corvette with CFI. I removed and the injectors. Sprayed some carb cleaner in them and then reinstalled the injectors. The idle went throught the roof, about 3500 RPM. So I wrote you guys and big help about balancing the TBI units. But the car started to burn today.
I think the fire started in the exhaust manifold. Is it possible that it is pouring so much gas that liquid gas is getting into the combustion chamber and igniting in the exhaust manifold. IF so what do I do, What have I done.
Any suggestions on what is going on is a BIG help. Frankly I was very affraid of having a fire.
Thabnk you all.
The drivers side throttle body is leaking gas onto the manifold. I bought gaskets to replace the old ones. Is this leak the reason for the excess gas, fast idle and FLAMING exhaust manifold?

Reason: update
I can only relate my own experience, and yes, an injector leaking even just a tiny bit....drip....drip....drip can fill up the crankcase, and probably the exhaust too...over the course of a week's time.
Just a guess.....A GUESS...I think that a chemical in the carb cleaner you sprayed into the injectors melted or ate part of the injector and allowed fuel to flow more freely than normal.
to begin, thats NOT how you clean fuel injectors. You clean the in an ultra-sonic bath to dislodge any solids and gum/varnish without destroying pintle seals and nozzels.
The inj are most likely toast <- bad pun I know.
Get some new injectors. Call Jon. he will guide you thru this before the next car b que.
