Default LT5 catback on LT1 C4?

Hi all,

I ordered an OBX catback system for my LT1 corvette but just received an email saying that my order was cancelled and was refunded due to the exhaust being out of stock for 8 weeks. Looking at the LT5 version is seems like the same thing, anybody know if it would fit? I have longtubes and no cats so not really worried about the pieces forward of the resonator, just wondering if the resonator, mufflers, and pipes would be the same?

No first hand knowledge with OBX but others BB, Corsa and PowerEffect are the same less the head pipes. Perhaps OBX could confirm for you. I've never had an OBX packing list in my hand but perhaps the components are listed by part number.

hmm thanks for the part number idea, just looked on the website and seems the manufacturer part numbers are the same but different SKU number (not really sure what SKU is). I'm thinking if they are the same part number it should fit, but also is probably out of stock too. I emailed OBX earlier but still waiting for a response.

I've been told (but have not verified), that the ZR-1 muffler spacing is the same as the regular vette. Obviously the pipes ahead of the resonator would have to be redone to connect to a smallblock engine, but it ought to hang on the car if I'm correct.

Well I ordered one for the LT5 but that got cancelled too. I bet they are cancelling my orders because they are selling the same thing on their auction site store for $200 more.

Guess I'll look into something else. Trying to quite down my car, right now with longtubes, no cats, no mufflers it is insanely load!

I'd look for a take-off LT system and start with that and just see where you actually are. A '96 LT4 would be the ideal find with the H-pipe in it.

I don't know that I'm sold on the OBX yet. I'd let the "early adopters" spend a couple years with theirs before making the move. Materials might be an issue, I stress the "might"! They might not either! The "Chinese" AC coils in home evaporators were OK for a couple years and "THEN"!!

Maybe do an X-pipe in an LT system or replace the LT's with the Walker Super Turbo. I've an LT system here with the Midas equivalants to the Walker Super Turbo with LT tips that if you were close I was going to offer for you to bolt up and try.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have a look around and see what I can find. From what I've read I've heard both good an bad things about OBX. My main reason was trying to keep the cost down, Cat back system $375 shipped. I've seen other cat back systems $900 +. I think I may end up going to a local exhaust shop and get one made with an X pipe. Got to be cheaper than buying one of the pre-made bolt on cat-backs???

Thanks for the offer, shame your not closer.
