Check engine light: scanner says MAF, anyone with this problem?
Just changed my rt frt 02 sensor on my 96, now the scanner says MAF related problems, has anyone had to replace the MAF recently. Lately my gas mileage has been TERRIBLE, changing the 02 sensor did not impact my mileage, although performance seems to have improved. Any Ideas?

Had the same thing recently on my '88. turns out it was the MAF relay. not sure if your car has one or not, mine was located on the firewall above the battery ($8.00 part).

you could try unplugging the MAF to see if there is an appreciable difference... obviously disconnecting the maf would set a code. Wheni had my 89 it would buck and jolt, i eliminated thed the maf by disconnecting it and it ran like a million dollars... went to pep boys and picked up a new one. I don't hear of as many problems with mafs on lt1's as i did with the l98's.. but anything is possible.
It could also be that the o2 being bad that it was casuing the ecm to throw numerous codes... i,e. one thing affecting the others...

Another thing to check is the MAF connector... It's directly in the hot air stream behind the radiator...
On my 96 the connector was pretty dried out and I was getting occasional MAF codes... I haven't changed out the plug yet, but I did go in and bend the connector prongs out a bit to make sure they have solid contact... No MAF codes since...
