Default TBI Syncro

Hello,

I own a 1984 4spd Corvette

I tried to use a manometer to Syncronize and tune my TBI units. The fluid got sucked into the TBI units. Any help on this?

Oh and I used the WinALdl software and it did not give me any TPS or IAC information and it did not give me RPM. The system used com 4 with a 2400 Baud rate.

Thank you for the help
Joe

I thought thre was a "ported vacuum" nipple to use. I believe you may have used a full VAC nipple. I used a VAC gauge on mine with full VAC in that instance. Got it reasonably close. I recall 6 inch of water is what you shoot for.

I actually found a manometer at work so I am going to try it. But I was wondering why some one cannot use vacuum gauges. Can I use teo vacuum gauges and try to get them both at the same vacuum?
Just a thought.

No, because the vacuum reading and sensitivity should be too low to see accurately on a vacuum gauge which references mercury, not water. That water manometer is much more sensitive. Rohn is right that there should be PORTED vacuum nipples to use for this.

No b/c then you'd get an average reading and you need to pinpoint EACH TB, one at a time. If you had two water manometers you could do them at the same time.

I was using a guide posted by one of the people on this forum. It actually shows in a picture and cricled what nipple to use. And it sucked the iced tea right in.
Do I need a valve on the line going to the water manometer.
Like I said I have a manometer from work, electronic. I am going to try it. But , I would still like to know why my water one failed so miserablely.
Thank you

I don't know other than having it hooked to the wrong port. Should need any valves in the line.

Is the lenght of tube in the manometer too short?

My link shows 10 feet of loop with 4 feet of water in it. 2 feet on each side.
