1985Corvette: Thanks for the info and for making me feel better about my questions.

Sleazy: I put your info in my notebook. I'm trying to take notes and learn as much as I can about this '94.

Roy: Email addy sent.

Corvette Ron: It's a '94, and I've bookmarked the Summit website.

383 Vette: So noted on the stainless steel lines.

96GS-Great pics! I've already printed these out for my notebook.

After reading all of your post, I took the car to a mechanic friend of mine, and he put it on the rack. He checked all the fuel lines, exhaust, brakes, etc. and said everything looked good to him with no problems. He said the rubber portions of the fuel line were flexible, and didn't appear to have any sponginess. So at this time, I'm going to leave well enough along, but I do have all of this information recorded for the future.

While under the car, I saw this rusty area where the yellow arrows are. What is that? Is the rust a problem?

Thanks again.

Those are brake lines with a lot of surface rust on them. Brake lines, like the fuel lines, are not easy to change. Worth keeping an eye on them. If they do start to leak, you'll feel a spongy pedal. The front brakes and rear brakes are on separate circuits, so even if a line goes, you would still be able to stop the car albeit it will take more distance.

Should I try to clean the rust off? Or should I spray paint them to help stop the rust?

Thanks

I would say to go to your local auto parts store and get some type of rust arrester to either spray on or brush on to stop the continuation of your rust problem. follow the directions. this should remove the present rust and prevent any more to start. then spray some good primer on those lines and maybe some paint. even one rust hole will be a problem. just painting over in this current condition will not prevent the continuation of the rust.

I'd still carry a fire extinguisher and a battery cable cutter.

It beats watching your pride melting into a roadside puddle
