When braking I note that my 1987 Vette not infrequently will pull to one side. Usually it is to the right but sometimes the left. Sometime it pulls quite strongly, sometime just a little and sometime it goes straight. The brake pads and brake system appear to be normal. I don't see any leaking and the suspension is good.
What would the most likely cause for this be and how would I go about fixing it?
Re: car pulls to either side during breaking (tim87)
First thing, find a flat level area to test the brakes. If it pulls, see above posts. Otherwise, note the condition of the road when and where you feel the pull. Our cars are known for darting around, especially under braking, in ruts. Very busy intersections or poorly paved roads will develop ruts, large or small, that will cause this.
Re: car pulls to either side during breaking (Ski2Tee)
Don't forget crappy roads. Alot of the roads here get used by heavy truck traffic which in turn wears grooves in the riad, which are so much fun with wide tires. But I bet its a rotor problem like i had. :yesnod:
Re: car pulls to either side during breaking (tim87)
Sounds like you borrowed my '87. I have the same problem. I checked the suspension and I have a missing lower front shock eye, as well as some seriously chewed up bushings. I bought new shocks and poly bushings, so hopefully that will clear it up. If not, I'll be checking some of the other things posted here.
