The courtesy lights that come on when opening the doors will not go OFF when I start the engine. They do go off after a certain period of time. The circuit board that controls these light is really simple. Does anyone have the schemetices? Or where to purchase one or have the unit rebuilt? I understand that GM has discontinued the part.
Tried to install a keyless entry system from Ecklers. Worked okay before I started. I gave up trying to make the new stuff work and sent it back. But now the lights do not work correctly!
1989 Black with grey interior. Automatic 84,000 miles. Runs great!
From the Shop Manual, pink/black wire, terminal E, from the Gages Fuse is the ignition feed and should have battery voltage with the ignition on. Trouble Chart says to replace the Timer if voltage is correct. Otherwise check the fuse or the wire for an open.
Try Contemporary Corvette for a boneyard part http://www.contemporarycorvette.com or you might poke around the ac delco parts page for one from another year. GM uses these things on a ton of cars. Web is http://www.acdelco.com
I checked my '95 Gran Prix to see if it was similar. I actually like it better because it kills the courtesy lamps if you leave the door open. Unfortunately, it's incorporated in the light switch. Oh well.
