Default Cruise Control not working...

I wanted to know if anyone has any ideas on what it might be. I have already checked the fuse, and I am pretty sure that all of the stop lights are working as well as the backup lights. Just to make sure, the cruise fuse(I was a poet and didn't know it) is the second row from the left, third from the bottom. Anyone have any ideas?

My vacuum hose near the header was burnt...therefore rendering the CC, USELESS! We put on a new hose and it works fine. :D I Still don't use it...Never did.

Good luck.

Do you have a vacuum check valve inline between the manifold and cruise? If this fails, the cruise won't work. Less than $5 to replace.

At the throttle, follow the line to a round black cyinder (your cruise control unit). Attached to it should be a vacum line. Remove it and replace it. It is located on the driver's side of the engine.

If you've recently jump started the car or replaced the battery, you might have knocked a vacuum line off near there. Ours went out once when someone helped my wife jump start it. They had knocked a line off the servo.

Plastic vacuum tee under passenger fuel rail cover

One of the most commonly overlooked, yet easily recognized vacuum leak occurs with a plastic vacuum “T” under the LT1 passenger side fuel rail cover. Located about mid-way between the front and back, and situated very closely to the top of the intake manifold, the “T” is the main vacuum source for the HVAC and Cruise control. Due to its location, this fitting is subjected to enormous heat and has been known to deteriorate on a routine basis..

Visual inspection often doesn’t reveal that the vacuum “T” has failed. The vacuum “T” tends to slowly deteriorate over a period of time. The best method for inspection is to actually turn the “T” over and look at the underside. What you find may shock you. Due to heat, the “T” fitting actually decomposes on the side toward the intake manifold and develops large holes similar to Swiss Cheese. Replacement is cheap and easy.

GM calls that vacuum “T” a “valve”. The GM part # is 14056648. You can pick one
up from your friendly Chevrolet parts man for cost + 10% + tax = ~ $3.00.

If you don’t have easy access to a dealership, you can call Jeff Kopp at 1-800-728-8267. Jeff can help you get the part.

One of our members has posted a picture of the fitting at the following link:

On my car,the vaccum line routing around the battery going to the servo was corroded. Check there as well.
