Default bluetooth OBD adapter

I have a 95 LT1... anyone successfully use a Bluetooth adapter on one of these? I am guessing I only might be OBD2 compliant, or may only get partial data.

I'm asking because I'm thinking I can get a)engine data/codes/etc. and b)I'm hoping I can hook up a digital tach by using either my phone (droid), IPad, or my Nexus 7 Tablet. the engine is in a 66 vette so the tach doesn't work.

The only Bluetooth adapters I've ever seen were for OBD II only.

This one has been around for some time:

Red Devil River is generally quite well thought of. An acquaintance with Lotus requirements speaks well of them. If you check their web-page you'll see they mention ANDROID soon and I'm quite confident that they could accomplish the Bluetooth NOW for a tuning requirement. You mention '95, are you using the '95 ALDL also? If you're actually using the 16 pin ALDL I believe they could assemble the Bluetooth for you. Engine codes and diagnostics shouldn't be an issue. The tach would be a complicated display until the Android were released I'd think.

I stumbled upon that one on eBay. I wonder if it's worth swapping ECM's out for a 96 and then going the OBD2 route Vs. only having limited software for OBD1.

No because the OBDII has a sh*t load of extra stuff you don't want.
Many serious '96 owners convert back to OBDI for the simpler operation

That's interesting. I never heard of that one before. It's not at all clear if it can switch from 160 baud to 8192 baud on pin E, which my ECM (1227165 -- used from '86 through '89) supports.

It certainly appears easy enough to ask them the question. Everything they do seems to be very straight forward and they do some very specialized products.

They have an ad on ebay, try to find it, and it has more info than the web site... well, actually, different info. The ebay ad plus the website seem to be the complete picture.

I messaged on ebay and haven't heard back yet.
