Actually, the problem is reattachment. I had to take the PS pump loose (4 bolts) to get the water pump on, as part of a opti replacement. My PS pump is a b---ch! The bolt holes do not line up. It takes a lot of twisting effort to get them to line up. It takes both hands, and some effort. The natural thinking process is to remove the hoses. Right? Out of the frying pan, into the fire. Thats what I did last time. I thought I'd never get it back. There's got to be an easier way! I started taking the air/con bracket off. This seems wrong. I've always installed with the pully on the pump. Maybe I need to rethink this, and attempt pully removal. Any suggestions? Thanks!
With an L98, it's pretty easy to remove the pump bracket bolts and push it out to the side while the water pump is removed. You don't have to remove the pulley, hoses or the pump from the bracket. An LT1 might be a different story. Don't know what year Vette you have.
My car is a '93 Coupe. In the past I carried the pump and pully to autozone, set it on the counter, and asked them to "remove this", or "put this on". Maybe I need to rent the puller for this next attempt. I'm concerned about haveing enough room to get a puller in there. I searched old post and don't see anything about this. This leads me to think I may be doing something wrong if i am the only one who sees this as a problem.
There is enough room to remove and install pully on power steering pump while on car. I did it 2 times in March. 1st one was bad so i had to replace it. I bought puller on line about 35$ it did the trick. But i had hoses off to flush old power steering fluid and top radiator hose. to flush/drain antifreeze.

I did finally get it all back together this weekend. I removed the pump pully in the car, via a Orielly's loaner puller, putting it back after mounting. It worked fine. I removed the A/C pump from its mount, without removing the hoses, and wired it back out of the way. Also the wheel panel inside of the front wheel comes out, 4 bolts. It seemed to help looking at a diagram of how it's supposed to go. Not too bad an operation. I hope it holds where I won't have to do this again for awhile!
