Default code 34

Had a code 15 so replaced the temp. sensor. Cured that code, but now I have a code 34 which I didn't have before. What is code 34 ?.1988

Code 34 is the MAF sensor.

To be more precise, code 34 is low MAF signal.

Could be the MAF to ECM wiring is shorted to ground.

MAF power relay and/or its associated wiring could be bad.

That would be why you work through the fault diagnostic chart I linked above

The chart doesn't mention the MAF power relay. Or how to troubleshoot it.

It also says "No code 12" on the lower left side, which probably ought to be "No code 34".

On the 1985 MAF diagram the block labeled "MAF BURN OFF RELAY" could be more accuratly labelled "MAF BURNOFF MODULE" -- it has both power and burnoff functions -- and some electronic circuitry inside.
