My '84 originally came with 205 HP and many of the new V6s spank that with twice the HP. How crazy am I to think I want to swap the tired 350 with a modern lightweight engine with twice the HP and twice the gas mileage?
I am interested in your thoughts.
I know it won't be free or cheep, but I have had this car since new and have saved plenty on car payments I didn't pay.
New engine/transmission with associated computers and wiring.
support me? or send me to the nut house?
Thanks
Not crazy. Many have already beat you to it, and that's a good thing as that means lots of pics and how to topics detailing swaps. Best first step is having a talk with yourself on what you can and can't do (electrical, wrenching, fabrication, etc) before doing it or a two year project turns into a ten year.
thank you for the quick response, I've rebuilt several GM blocks, put a 350 in an 82 camaro that had a v6. Done all the work on this car, alternators, stereo swap, starters, smog pump, head gasket changes, the suspension work, U-joints, I'm good with a spec sheet or schematic and soldering iron. I'm confidant in my skills and tools. I just need some guides and ideas on where to head. I've tried googling around and have come up short. There are engines available. I don't want or need 600 HP, I know I could build the 350 block to whatever I want, but I want 30 years of evolution and new design work.
