Default engine died when almost home

Hi guys. just got a '92 C4 with 56k miles on it yesterday. so far it's an amazing car and drives like a dream however it died on the way home tonight. luckily it was less than half a mile from my house and I had good friends to push!

I ran the engine codes and got back qa 15 (low coolant temp indicated) and a 43 (engine knock sensor short or open) now this engine is running very very smooth and I do not hear any knocking so i'm not sure what the issue is. We unhooked the battery to reset the error codes and after 2 cranks it came back to life however. can anyone offer some advice as to what is wrong?

While i'm at it, the AC doesn't seem to be working either. I found a retrofit sticker so I recharged the system with refrigerant plus oil and still nothing. when the car starts up I can see the compressor try to turn on but it stops after a few cycles. in the Texas heat AC is a must!

Drove it around the block a few times and no hiccups or engine lights.... I'm not sure what to think about this issue, I am planning on a big road trip in a few weeks and I cant have my new car dying on me

ttt
I've been doing some reading and it sounds like the ECU overheating could cause the car to die? It was at night when it died and i don't believe the car got very hot in the engine bay. If it is the ECU, how hard is it to replace them? I feel like it wouldn't be plug and play
