For me on #6 and 8 I sit on the passenger wheel facing out and reach in with my right hand and take them out by feel alone. Starting the new ones, I use the fuel line over the plug trick to prevent cross threading. (1992&94)
on my 1990 i remove the wheel and then the inner fender covers, then you can get in there with an extension.
OK, being as mine is a 90, this is very good info. I have the added problem of a cast on my left hand which, believe it or not, doesn't help. Good stuff guys.
I use a SideWinder wrench to remove the passenger side plugs, works like a charm. Before that, I would position the socket on the plug and use an open end wrench on the hex part of the socket. It worked well if the plugs weren't frozen or too tight. I always use anti-seize on the threads to avoid that problem and now I can do a set of plugs in about an hour on my 85.

1/4" drive stuff works well esp on # 2 (pass side front) if I remember right. Friggin nightmare lol. Dont think I had to take the wheel off but did go through the fenderwell. Put a tiny bit of antiseize on the threads of the new one and be very careful starting the threads.

I do the same thing, remove the inner fender covers and such to get to the last one which is usually my problem and I have an 89 so there is probably not much difference.
For passenger side I remove:
-fender access panel
-A/C compressor support rod
-Air hoses
I use 3/8 socket, extensions on #2 & #4 and a small extension for #6. For #8 I use an open-end on the spark plug socket.
With your left hand in a cast I suggest you wait till it's off and the hand is back to normal. I start all the plugs with fingers and cannot imagine doing it with the socket...

1/4" drive air ratchet FTW !! Dont use it to remove #8 though. It gets stuck.
Passenger side was way harder on my 85, on 2 I had to go with long extension through wheel well 8 I had to sit on tire, and reach back with my left hand. Had to put socket on first then attach ratchet that worked for me. However put plug wires on before me didn't use dielectric on the plug wires, they were hard to pull off, even with a plug boot pliers. Good thing I intended to replace wires, as they tore coming off some of the plugs. All total 2 or 3 strapped knuckles and 1 cut on back of hand. 3 hours for plugs, and the next Saturday 2 hours for wires and new seperators. Split it out as 2 Saturdays so I wouldn't mess up wires order even with handy FSM

It'll help to take the cast off and drop the beer in your other hand
