EGR ???
Does the EGR only affect idle and driving performance once the car has warmed up to normal opperating temp. We think that mey be my problem as my car idles like a champ untill 180* and then it surges REAL bad. And while driving the car drives perfect untill 180* then it starts to surge at constant speeds and run REALLY lean.

should be. sometimes (rare) it stuck and suck :D
If you could live with some worse emmisions remove that egr system.
I removed 2 years ago ALL egr system in my 88 vette and till now no codes no troubles.

Unplug the egr switch and it will disengage the whole system. After you unplug it the only way it will cause problems is if the valve itself is stuck open. And although egr is off at idle, the egr system can cause bad idle problems usually from a stuck open valve or a vaccum leak.

Kyvette, So if I understand you correctly, I can unplug the solenoid under the left front ram tube on my 91 and the system should run okay unless the EGR valve is stuck open? How about passing emissions inspection(both high speed and idle)? I have replaced both the valve and the solenoid with no luck. I still get a code 32 no matter what I do. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, unplug the solenoid and the egr system will not work. You shouldn't get a code with it unplugged. You should plug it back in for emissions tests. I have replaced every component of the egr system and still get a code 32. I wouldn't worry about the code 32. It's a "money light" it makes the dealerships alot of money when people bring there cars in to get them fixed thats about all it's good for.

Do you think that could be my problem? Basically the egr at normal operating temp while cruising and at idle should be closed? My problem is that the car wont idle worth a darn almost like its got a huge cam in it when the car hit 180, this also makes it run lean while driving.
